Teaching With Story
This workshop is designed for educators and introduces the joy of storytelling in the classroom. Participants learn a variety of strategies for incorporating storytelling into instruction. Everyone learns at least three new stories to use with students right away.
Storyteller/Storywriter
This workshop focuses on the connection between telling stories and writing stories in the classroom. Participants learn practical suggestions for how to incorporate storytelling into the writer’s workshop process. All participants learn at least three new stories to use with students right away.
Kindling Kindness: Storytelling and SEL in the Classroom
How can storytelling support Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools? As humans, we've always used stories and storytelling to help pass on important lessons to the next generation. We can use storytelling to build empathy today! Participants will learn folktales and storytelling games to connect with SEL in the classroom.
Tandem Storytelling = Twice the Fun
This workshop outlines the benefits tandem storytelling. It also focuses on team-building and how to avoid potential pitfalls when telling with a partner. This workshop highlights a variety of uses for tandem telling, including bilingual telling and working with pairs of student tellers.
Story Play
This workshop is designed primarily for early childhood educators and focuses on using storytelling as a spring-board for a variety of creative dramatics activities.
Storytelling: It’s All in the Family
This workshop is geared for families and is designed to encourage parents to develop a culture of storytelling at home. Participants gain an appreciation for playing with stories at home as well as new ideas for starting collections of family stories.
